The Kuros of Naxos an important unfinished marble sculpture features a beard and ears carved into a rectangular shape by a stonemason. Created in the 6th century BC. it sits in an ancient quarry near Apollonas and Melanes and exemplifies early Greek monumental art. The most famous of these sculptures is the Kuros of Apollonas or the Giant of Dionysus standing approximately 4.7 meters tall and weighing around 80 tons. Another statue the Kohuroi of Felrio/Melanes is also in a nearby quarry Both date back to the early 6th century BC with the Kohuroi standing 10.7 meters tall and weighing 80 tons

The Kohuroi of Felrio/Melanes a "sleeping giant" that never separated from its base and whose feet were beginning to take shape stands on a 50-centimeter-high pedestal. Believed to be a statue of Dionysus or Apollo it is currently abandoned due to cracks but these cracks are visible in an 1835 sketch by Schaubert for copper carving, providing insight into ancient sculpting techniques. Evidence of habitation and quarrying dating back to the 3rd millennium BC has been discovered. The Greek statue of "Nasos Kuros" carved in mainland Attica depicts a nude young man and was found in near-perfect condition

The statue characterized by its archaic smile was discovered in 1936 at the same site. The base with its inscription was found later in 1938. The inscription identifies the young man as Croixos who died on the front lines of a battle. Carved in mainland Attica Greece, it is believed to be a tombstone of an Athenian nobleman dating from approximately 590-580 BC. Created during the Archaic period of ancient Greece the statue of Croixos Kuros was discovered during clandestine excavations in the Anavisssos cemetery a coastal area in Attica Greece
