Arthur and the Questing Beast by
Henry Justice Ford
(1904)
The hunt for a rare beast in the legendary Arthurian legend was sought by Sir Percival Sir Palomide and Sir Pellinore This beast was named for the sound it made from its belly which sounded like a pack of hunting dogs For this reason it was sometimes called Beste Glatisant Although he eventually slew them all to bring peace to the chaos the Seeker Beast barking like dogs had never seen or heard such a beast before It passed silently in surprise The beast traveled to a nearby well before pausing to drink The terrifying sounds emanating from its belly ceased and when it finished drinking the Seeker Beast disappeared into the forest reestablishing the balance of nature required by this monster-slaying mission
Merlin by Louis Rhead
The old man appeared to Arthur and sat down to rest by the well When Arthur approached to speak with the old man he told him he knew everything that was about to happen and explained the origins of the Seeker Beast He was melancholy after meeting the boy who had previously told him about himself and told him that he knew the story of his parents that from now on a child would come who would destroy his kingdom The question of who this old man and child are talking to is causing the balance to be broken in the pursuit of the evil seeker.
The birth of the Seeker Beast stems from a prophecy the sister made a deal with and once the deal is complete the demon tricks the sister into falsely accusing her brother by promising a demon that her brother will love her Morlin reveals to him that a mortal princess gave birth to the Beast to which the old man transforms into Merlin and tells Arthur that he is the one who came to him as a child and that he knows everything that will happen and explains the origin of the Seeker Beast and how Arthur was able to successfully heal his soul by dealing with the Seeker Beast later on
King Arthur was neither forgotten nor abandoned but rather returned in the afterlife Arthur encountered the Seeker Beast after having dreams about the downfall of King Arthur and the events of his own birth While some stories suggest Arthur was taken to Avalon for his life or an honorable end on the battlefield as predicted by King Arthur's fate of never being able to survive on earth others say he successfully saved his soul by manipulating Mordred later The Seeker Beast represents the brotherly violent and chaotic force that ultimately destroyed Arthur's kingdom ironically is pure beast.=
