This sacred site is the most famous sanctuary in Locri Epizefiri. The sacred temple dedicated to the goddesses Persephone and Demeter has revealed millennia of continuous history that has transformed our understanding of the great Greek empire. Artifacts found range from the Bronze and Iron Ages to Classical and Hellenistic objects including pibash tablets and ancient coins devotional plaques and thousands of statues. Some of the most important Greek pottery artifacts in the Mediterranean were discovered in the temple dedicated to Persephone and Aphrodite.

The temple to the goddess Athena on Manella Hill within the city was built in the 6th century BC. A cave with a spring where nymphs were worshipped and the temple of Demeter Thesmophorus are located outside in the northeastern corner. Locri was a center of Magna Graecia during the Hellenistic period and scenes of daily life depicted on inscribed stone tablets were widely used to decorate buildings ancient Greek theaters and even in religious offerings. Brightly painted small terracotta tablets and various clay figurines such as roosters rabbits and sheep were commonly used to invoke the goddess's protection. Locri also offers surprising insights into the Bronze and Iron Ages.

This ancient Greek terracotta plaque Pinax depicts the god Poseidon holding a trident. It originates from the archaeological site of Penteskouphia near Corinth Greece and is currently on display at the Altes Museum in Berlin Germany. The plaque dates back to the 7th to 6th century BC.

Excavations at the southernmost point of the mountain utilize ground-penetrating radar (GPR) and magnetic field measuring equipment for preliminary surveys along the coastline and on the hillsides which may hold mysterious inscriptions and artifacts depicting daily life from the Classic Antiquity period approximately 490-450 BC. Priceless Greek sculptures being unveiled in Locri provide a deeper understanding of the daily lives of ancient Greeks.
 
Terracotta panel is a replica of a bas-relief from Locri in southern Italy. The panel has holes for hanging and was used as an offering in a temple. The bas-relief depicts the goddess Aphrodite with the god Eros standing on her left arm and Hermes on her left. This object was created around 475-450 BC.

A significant artifact inscribed on a stone slab depicts a scene of the gods and the transition of seasons on Earth. This originates from ancient Greek mythology and shows Poseidon holding a trident. The artifact is from the Penteskouphia archaeological site near Corinth Greece. The inscription also depicts Hades and Persephone the king and queen of the underworld according to Greek mythology. Their love story is the origin of the legend explaining the changing seasons on Earth.

The rock structures and broken pottery fragments found may represent part of an ancient settlement or city walls. The artifacts may be pottery or components of past dwellings from the city of Locri.

This place was never buried by modern communities during the changes of the Classical Greek era. The city of Locri Epizephyrii or "Under the West Wind" is why thousands of fragments remain. From the colonization of the river valleys and the Greek-Persian Wars two famous battles including the Battle of Marathon to tombstones silver mines near Athens ancient crafts and the daily life of the Greeks it is the site of two great temples the Temple of Persephone and the Temple of Aphrodite. It can be said that Persephone was worshipped as the protector of the Greeks and Romans.
